How much does a VR headset cost?

In 2026, a VR headset costs between about €360 and €3,700 in Germany, depending on the model. For most business applications, standalone devices such as the Meta Quest 3, the Quest 3S or the Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise are enough. They cost between €360 and about €1,000.
The market has changed a lot since 2024: Apple has updated the Vision Pro, Samsung has entered the market with the Galaxy XR, Valve has released a new headset, and the glasses from XREAL and Meta have created a new class of devices for augmented reality. Here is an overview from a business perspective.
As of September 2026. All prices in Germany include VAT. Prices change. The Quest 3, for example, became more expensive in April 2026.

Standalone headsets: the standard in business
Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S
- Price: Quest 3 with 512 GB for €619.99, Quest 3S from about €360
- Use: Training, trade shows, sales, 360° video. No computer needed. Mixed reality with color passthrough.
- Advantage: Very good value for money, mature hand tracking, widespread use.
- Disadvantage: The Quest 3S has a lower resolution. Meta discontinued its “Quest for Business” offering in February 2026. Since then, companies have managed their headsets through Meta’s free device management together with device management software.
Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise
- Price: €819
- Use: Popular with companies because the headset runs without private accounts and can be managed centrally.
- Advantage: Dedicated store for businesses, customizable interface, kiosk mode.
- Disadvantage: Hand tracking is less advanced than on Meta devices.
HTC Vive Focus Vision
- Price: about €980. The Business Edition with an extended warranty is available on request.
- Use: Runs standalone and can also be connected to a computer by cable.
- Advantage: Eye tracking, swappable battery, high resolution.
Valve Steam Frame
- Price: about €1,050 with 256 GB, about €1,280 with 1 TB
- Use: Runs standalone and streams applications wirelessly from a computer. The wireless adapter is included.
- Note: Since September 2026, Valve has initially been selling the headset through a lottery system. For now, this makes it hard to plan for larger quantities.
The high end: Apple Vision Pro and Samsung Galaxy XR
Apple Vision Pro
- Price: from €3,699 with 256 GB
- Use: Presentations and applications where image quality matters. Controlled with the eyes and hands.
- Advantage: Very high resolution, high-quality passthrough, prescription lens inserts from Zeiss for people who wear glasses.
- Disadvantage: High price and heavy weight. It is rarely cost-effective in larger quantities at trade shows or in training.
Samsung Galaxy XR
- Price: $1,799 in the USA, £1,699 in the United Kingdom. There is no price for Germany yet.
- Availability: In the USA and South Korea since October 2025, in the United Kingdom since July 2026. The headset is not yet officially available in Germany.
- Use: High-end mixed reality at half the price of the Vision Pro, with the open operating system Android XR.
- Our assessment: We have tested the Galaxy XR. You can read why we think it matters in our review of the Samsung Galaxy XR.
New: glasses for augmented reality
Alongside enclosed headsets, there are now glasses that look like sunglasses and display content in your field of view.
| Device | What it does | Price | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| XREAL One, One Pro | Large virtual screen for a phone, laptop or game console | about €400 to €690 | available |
| XREAL Aura | Android XR with hand tracking, compute unit on a cable | no price yet, at most $1,500 according to the manufacturer | announced for fall 2026 in selected EU countries |
| Meta Ray-Ban Display | Small display in the right lens, controlled with a wristband | €899 | in Germany from October 13, 2026 |
| Meta VR Glasses | Lightweight headset shaped like glasses with a compute unit on a cable | $1,299.99 | announced for spring 2027, price for Europe not yet known |
These devices are lighter and better suited to everyday use than a headset. In return, the field of view is smaller, and not all glasses can anchor content firmly in the room. We describe what this means for projects on our page about augmented reality.
Which headset fits your use case?
- Training, trade shows and sales: Meta Quest 3 or Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise. They are affordable, robust and can be used anywhere without a computer.
- Many devices at a low price: Meta Quest 3S, for example for 360° videos in front of a large audience.
- Highest image quality: Apple Vision Pro and, once it is available in Germany, Samsung Galaxy XR.
- Demanding simulations from a computer: HTC Vive Focus Vision or Valve Steam Frame.
- Content in your field of view while your hands stay free: AR glasses such as the XREAL One or the upcoming XREAL Aura.
We develop for all common platforms. We will work out which headset fits your project in our first conversation. It often makes sense to build an application so that it runs on several devices.
