Experiencing innovative features up close

Like many carmakers, Mercedes regularly launches new driver assistance systems. They are packed with innovative features that make driving safer and more relaxed. But facts and figures alone rarely convey the sense of security it takes to actually let go of the steering wheel and hand control over to the car. Especially in situations like rush hour, when every second can count, it is hard to suddenly hand responsibility over to an assistance system after years of driving yourself.

The challenge for dealers

For Mercedes sales partners, it is essential not only to know the technical features of the driver assistance systems, but also to feel confident in this technology so they can pass that feeling on to their customers. After all, who could credibly assure a customer that they can relax and hand control over to the technology if they have never had that experience themselves? That is exactly the challenge, because not every sales partner has the chance to test these features in real traffic.

Virtual reality builds trust

At the 2025 Mercedes sales conference, we at VRtual X delivered the perfect solution to this problem: virtual reality. Instead of having thousands of dealers test the driving and braking assistants themselves with a fleet of vehicles in rush-hour traffic or on a test track, we rely on VR experiences that feel as real as if the dealers were behind the wheel themselves.

We produced three 360° and 180° videos that give participants an intense experience, right from the driver’s perspective. They were shot in 8K quality on a Mercedes test track and even on real highways in the middle of rush-hour traffic. With the VR headset, viewers experience up close how the driving and braking assistants intervene in different situations and how the vehicle responds confidently in dangerous moments.

How the VR experience works at Mercedes

During the presentations at the conference, participants put on the VR headsets and are immediately immersed in the world of Mercedes driver assistance systems. In these sessions, the presenters start the videos centrally from a tablet, so all participants experience the driving situations in sync. They don’t just see how the vehicle reacts. They feel it, through the immersive power of virtual reality. The response was clear: the VR experience creates the understanding that is essential for selling these advanced technologies.

More than just technology: it’s about the feeling

It’s not just about figures and features, it’s about gut feeling. And now you can experience that in virtual environments, too. Virtual reality is the bridge between technical facts and real trust, making it an invaluable tool for successful sales.

If you have never put on a VR headset, it’s time to try out this new way of presenting. Your customers will thank you when you don’t just explain the technology but combine it with an experience they will remember. Goodbye, PowerPoint. Welcome to the future of product experiences.
