Isotec Uses 360° Videos at Career Fairs

For Isotec, we produced a 360° film that brings the trade of wood and building protection technician to life. At career fairs, it runs in VR headsets.

360° shot from a basement room on a construction site, with apprentice Miguel in work clothes in the center and an overlaid name bar

Isotec regularly attends career fairs to recruit apprentices for the trade of wood and building protection technician (a skilled trade in Germany). But the company faced a big challenge: many young people are too shy to start a conversation with the adults. They often don’t really know what the job involves and hesitate to ask questions. An information stand alone is often not enough to spark interest. The trade needs to be explained and made tangible, and that is exactly what the 360° film we produced does.

The 360° film with Miguel: a look behind the scenes

To help young people overcome their uncertainty, Isotec turned to innovative technology: a 360° video that follows apprentice Miguel on the construction site. The film gives a realistic, authentic look at his daily work. Over two weeks, we visited his construction site, and he showed us what he does every day, step by step. What makes it special is that Miguel speaks directly to the viewers. He explains why he chose this trade, what he likes about it, and what makes Isotec a special employer.

Immersed in an apprentice’s day

In the 360° video, you feel as if you are standing on the construction site with Miguel yourself. You see what he does and who he works with, and you experience his daily routine up close. This makes the job tangible, without complicated explanations. You put on the VR headset and you are right in the middle of the action. For young people who may still be unsure, this kind of presentation is a great way to get to know the trade in a playful way and find out whether it is right for them.

More visitors, more conversations, thanks to VR

Site manager Sönke Teichert is enthusiastic, too. Using VR headsets at the career fair drew many times more visitors to the Isotec booth. Conversations with potential applicants have become not only more numerous but also much more meaningful. Instead of starting with a general introduction to the trade, conversations now often begin right away with questions like “Did you like the job?” or “Could you imagine working like that?” This lets fair visitors judge much more quickly whether the trade is a good fit for them or not. That saves both sides an enormous amount of time.

Success through innovative recruiting

The results prove Isotec right: thanks to 360° videos in VR headsets, the company has already found several apprentices. This immersive technology helps break down inhibitions and gives authentic insights that are hardly possible with conventional methods. The trade isn’t just explained, it is brought to life.

So if you are looking for new ways to reach potential apprentices and employees, 360° videos combined with VR are an interesting solution. They offer an exciting, innovative way to present your company authentically and in a modern light.
