An Industrial Kitchen in VR 360° Video
Apetito, based in Rheine, is known for frozen meals and catering for company cafeterias. Now the long-established company is breaking new ground, recruiting apprentices with VR headsets.

The challenge: recruiting apprentices. Apetito visits schools and career fairs to find apprentices. Working and training at Apetito is interesting and varied. But how do you get that across in the short time you have at a career fair? Until now, there were spice quizzes in which people had to guess a spice by its smell. Fun, but not very interesting for future electrical technicians.
The solution: virtual reality
That is why Apetito is now turning to virtual reality. We shot two videos in 360° and 180° that present the apprenticeship trades. Our team traveled to Rheine and filmed at the most interesting places in the company. The videos combine 360° footage and 180° video. This gives us maximum quality, a clear focus on what matters, and the full immersive effect.
Behind the scenes of food production
For the shoot, we had to take all our equipment into the sterile area of food production. Everything was thoroughly disinfected, cleaned, and wrapped. The production facility was impressive: huge kitchens with large pots and filling lines, gigantic blast freezers, and conveyor belts. In everyday life, we hardly think about where our food actually comes from or how it is processed.
But we also filmed the plant engineering side. Apetito builds its own food processing machines on its own production line. In these factory halls, people weld, grind, and solder. We captured the training workshops, production halls, and production lines in two experience videos.
The immersive experience
In 3D, the impact of this production comes across very well. You get a great impression of what it is like to work at Apetito and how large and modern the company’s production is.
A complete success
Apetito is very satisfied. The videos can be watched with our 360° player on Apetito’s VR headsets. They are used in schools, at trade shows, and with visitor groups. For hygiene reasons, visitors cannot simply enter the food processing area. But now they can put on the VR headset in front of the hygiene airlock and take an exclusive tour of the production facility.
